Full Moon party
Every month on the beach island of Koh Phangan is a full moon rave party. Basically it's an excuse for people to party on the beach all night and they have decided that the event to celebrate is the new full moon. So I decided to head check it out in late March. Of course I didn't go alone.
Julia and Rachel came along...
Sophie came along...
And so did Camilla :)
And what would a blog post be w/out at least one Portrait of a Brown Man shot???
The plan was to fly into Bangkok, go to the central train station (Hualamphong) in Bangkok, catch a train to Surat Thani and then from there catch a ferry to Koh Phangan. In addition two of our friends (Leslie and John) were going to arrive on a later flight so we would just get the train tix for them and wait at the train station. Well we got to Hualamphong and ALL the trains were sold out :S We were then grabbed by a tourist bus operator who offered us a bus to Surat Thani and ferry to Koh Phangan; only catch was the bus was leaving in 5 mins. Well with really no other choice we decided to take it (thus stranding Leslie and John). We txt'd the two others explaining the situation (they understood) and told them to try and get something similar. Unfort. they couldn't but neither had been to Bangkok before!!!
Anyways, so we hoped on the bus.
I basically slept for a few hrs but we stopped at a bout midnight for some food. Needless to say none of us were very happy campers.
After a quick snack we hoped back on the bus. Several hours later we arrived in Surat Thani where we waited for the ferry to arrive.
After a 4hr ferry ride we arrived in Koh Phangan. Unfort. due to some miscommunications with our cab driver he took us to the wrong side of the island. Luckily we did end up at a resort where there was some room available. The choices were either:
Room A
or Room B.
For an extra 100THB (which is just a few CAD) we took Room B.
Well hey, the view was great,
water was clear,
and locals were friendly
So after resting for a few hours it was on to the main show.
The main thing to drink at the rave were these buckets (for 150THB) which was filled with some coke, red bull and Thai Whisky. They weren't bad. Def. made the night fun ;)
So at the rave there was entertainment
dancing
Of course some people couldn't handle all the excitement.
So we partied the night away, and next thing you know it's the wee hours of the morning and the sun is coming up
But some people didn't seem to notice
We did though :P So we went back to the resort, packed up and began the journey back to Singapore (we were on the island for a total of 24hrs).
So between all the partying and travelling some of us were pretty tired
Of course others were ready to party hard.
At the airport we met up with John and Leslie (who were on the same flight back)
During that flight I got some light reading done
Acted like an idiot
Took some cool photos
And caught Camilla stealing all the chocolate.
In other words it was a normal flight :) Oh, well except for the swollen ankle.
(ps - Thanks to Julia for pretty much half the photos)

What Arvind fails to mention is that he was insanely high and waving his glow sticks and jammin to hardcore dance and techno beats at 6 am :) He's a trooper!!
