Bali
During the mid-semester break (middle of February basically) I decided to go to Bali with a few friends (Gaya, Meera, Ira, Aruni & Kiran). To be honest though I was a little dissapointed with Bali itself. Don't get me wrong, the trip with the girls was amazing and I had a great time getting to know them more. However, Bali itself dissapointed me. Regardless here is a quick photo entry of the trip (which was about 5 or 6 days). To get to Bali we went via Jakarta. Man, the domestic airport in Jakarta is sooooo boring (foreshadow for city) and there is nothing to do (or see) except sit. And just our luck our flight to Bali was delayed... by almost 4hrs :S So we really just did the only thing we could do... take photos :D

So after much delay we finally got to our Hotel. I have to admit the hotel was pretty slick.
And because 6 of us were staying it was almost dirt cheap. It was like 20SGD a night each.
The next day (our first day in Bali) we woke up and just walked around Kuta Beach. It was ok, but not really what i expected (I think I was spoiled by advertising and Bali's own hype).
(Random flower shot that turned out kinda cool)
(Random puppy shot that turned out kind of cool)
The next couple of days we went to a couple of towns just to do some shopping and see a temple. Nothing terribly amazing. Our driver, Deva, was a really cool guy though.
(These are some of the merchants who actually started getting into our car to try and sell us stuff)
some cool art
I really wish I had bought that hat.
This was a bit of a problem for me :P
The next couple of shots were by a temple that was built on a cliff at the shore. It was actually quite nice.
We happened to see a few of our friends from NUS @ one of the temples we visited.

The temple is in the background. My friends are in the foreground. And I am behind the camera:P
To enter one of the other temples that we went to see you had to have your legs covered. Unfort. I didn't realize this and so I went in shorts. No fear, the local merchants were around to save me :P
Now by coincidence it happened to be Gaya's and Aruni's bday around the same time. Well what kind of friends would we be if we didn't celebrate? And celebrate we did... in style ;)
Unfortunately they made me jump out of the cake.... hahaha, jk.
Ok, so now for the best part of the trip: Mt. Batur. It's an active volcano on the island of Bali and well we decided to climb it. It was about a 90min-2hr trek to the top. We started off at about 4 in the morning to catch sunrise. It was soooo worth it though. I'll let the photos speak for themselves...
Now there was a running joke during the trip that I had a bubble butt. What do you guys think?
After Bali we had 1 day in Jakarta. Well let me say that was definately a crappy city. Nothing exciting, nothing interesting. Just no life and no character. And generally we had this uneasy feeling of being unsafe at all times. Traffic was terrible and the people weren't amazingly nice or friendly... at least not compared to some other places we have travelled. We only took a few photos, but basically the theme for the photos was, "Let's look bored and depressed because that's how we feel".
(Most sad portrait of a brown man you will ever see)
But hey, at least i've immortalized by some sort of chocolate candy

Tell me you brought home some of that candy dude. Because then we can shoot the daring sequel, rightly titled: "Kimchi eats Tuffy".
But only if the Bollywood career you've already started doesn't hold up :)
kummar, more credit where its due man! I took almost all of those GQ shots if i recall correctly, and you have only given me credit for one of them!
Ravi! What an amazing adventure you must've had, sorry it took so long for me to visit your site, but I figured i better before we hang out tonight! it'll be good to see ya buddy!
